The Mail is Delayed

Postal truck slips into ditch making room to pass

According to the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company, on Wednesday morning (Sept. 9), a U.S. Post Office truck delivering the mail moved over on South Mountain Pass near Marit Lane to accommodate an oncoming car, and slid into the ditch. When Garrison Fire responded the driver did not want to leave the vehicle, fearing it would continue down the embankment, so the truck was secured with ropes and tackle to nearby trees to stabilize the vehicle, allowing the driver to climb out. Continental Village Fire Department responded in mutual aid, and postal representative arrived to secure the mail. When the tow truck arrived its heavy equipment and chains were used to get the post office truck back onto the road.
