Athlete of the Week

Jade Villella, Haldane

Villella has been on a scoring tear. Her two goals against Pawling sealed Haldane’s seventh consecutive Section 1, Class C girls’ soccer title. The sophomore earlier had two goals in the 5-0 semifinal win against Hamilton.

Yet her biggest contribution is on the defensive end. “As center defender, Villella plays one of the most important positions on the field,” said Coach Ed Crowe. “She does a great job positioning, running down balls and clearing. Her composure is impressive.”
