Cold Spring Halloween Parade (Photos) (Updated)

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

    Not to take away from all the cute costumes, but was this really a “parade” when there was no music? It was basically a bunch of people in costumes who walked down Main Street. What kind of parade doesn’t have at least a few musicians if not a band? Didn’t it strike anyone from the Chamber that maybe they should try to round up a few who’d be willing to participate?

    If there is anything that symbolizes the dysfunction of the Cold Spring Chamber which “organized” this event, I would say it is the so-called “Halloween Parade.”

      It has been this way since I moved here more than 10 years ago. It may not be a traditional parade, but it’s great how everyone gets into the spirit of Halloween and parades down to the river.

    What a lovely parade! I watched from the steps of the Buster Levi Gallery and enjoyed the music provided by Leonora Burton at the Country Goose a few doors away. The costumes were fun and original, as one would expect from citizens of Putnam County, and the real horses were an added bonus. Thank you, everyone.
